The Process
Oriental and Area Rug Cleaning
Our in-plant rug cleaning facility is highly recommended for the cleaning of Oriental and loose woven rugs. They should not be cleaned on location like your wall to wall carpeting. Premier Oriental Rug Cleaning cares for the finest to the most basic rugs from around the world. We will pick-up and bring it back to our special cleaning facility where it will go through a thorough 9 Step Cleaning Process for maximum soil and spot removal. Having the rug cleaned in our facility allows us to give it several treatments, if needed, with both sides cleaned, controlled drying and the use of various specialty tools that are not available on location.
Details of the Process:
Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick-Up
We will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect cleaning. Each rug will be tested for color stability prior to cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning recommendations. Our company will come to your home and pick-up the rug, or you may drop it off.
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal
We use a variety of techniques to “dust” the rugs from the front and back. We utilize the Rug Badger that harnesses over 40,000 harmonic vibrations per minute, which vibrates soil and sediments caught deep in the fibers out of the rugs. Then each rug is vacuumed front and back. This is the most important step in cleaning your rugs…get the loose soil out before the wash begins.
Step 3: Pre-Condition
Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.
Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Protection
Any difficult spots will be pre-treated with various specialty products to increase our success for removal. The fringe is also pre-treated for maximum soil removal.
Step 5: Shampoo
Depending on fiber content and soiling, the rug will again be pre-treated for easy soil removal. Most rugs are cleaned with specialty products designed exclusively for oriental and area rugs. These products are designed to get maximum cleaning while protecting sensitive natural fibers.
Step 6: Rinse or Wash
Depending on the type of rug and condition, the rug will either be rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides or flushed and washed. An example is rugs contaminated with heavy urine deposits. These rugs are flushed several times in order to gain maximum control of eliminating the urine deposits found in the rugs prior to actual cleaning.
Step 7: Speed Dry
Once the soil is rinsed away, the rug is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid rug damage or shrinkage.
Step 8: Finishing
When the rug is completely dry, it is combed and brushed with soft groomers made especially for area rugs.
Step 9: Post Inspection and Delivery
Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped in brown, acid free paper to protect it from dust and other soiling until it is picked up or delivered directly to you. Upon delivery, our service technicians will be delighted to lay the rug back down for you.
